Our name harkens back to Philip and Nick’s early ties to the pharmaceutical industry, inspired by the natural technologies seen in viruses and the immune system, the name of the new company was an obvious choice: Virus + Immune = Virun. Voilà! Virun® was born.

Founded in 2003, Virun® is a life sciences company driven to create real solutions, great tasting products and formulations for the food, beverage, supplement and pharmaceutical industries.
In the beginning, Philip Bromley, met co-founder Nickols Huang, who shared a vision for a world that can be a healthier place. With chemistry and nutrition at its foundation, Virun leverages natural raw ingredients, innovative science, and an entrepreneurial mindset to develop next-generation delivery systems.
Our interdisciplinary team works hand in hand with clients to deliver trusted and effective solutions that move the world forward, one healthy breakthrough at a time.
Our Story
2003
Founded in 2003, Nutra-BioSciences® was formed to create nutritious, great tasting and novel formulations for the food, beverage, supplement and pharmaceutical industries.
The Beginning
Philip Bromley, a Southern California surfer-dude and formulator skilled in biology and chemistry, met Nickols Huang, an ingredient supplier with an international network. Together they built a formulation company focused on unique delivery technologies for the medical industry.
The Breakthrough
The technology they developed was called MAPT – Mucosal Adhesive Penetrating Technology – a biotechnology that helped orally deliver insulin and reduce the need for injections. This paved the way for other delivery systems.

Since July 2026, Virun® NutraBioSciences has been part of the Wellma group, combining advanced nutrient delivery expertise with broader manufacturing capabilities, international reach and specialist know-how. What We Do
Virun® specializes in oil emulsions for ingredients such as Omega-3 (DHA/EPA), astaxanthin, NAD+, CoQ10 and PQQ, but is also a leader in topical solutions and advanced beverage and immune nutraceutical delivery technologies. The company continues to invest in and create technologies that change the way people receive nutritional ingredients.
