There’s been plenty happening at Virun lately. We’ve joined the Wellma family, teamed up with Seppic to talk longevity, been playing with sea moss in the formulation lab and celebrated a little award-winning proof of deliciousness.
Here’s what we think is worth your attention.
Same Virun spirit. Bigger family.
In July, Virun joined Wellma, bringing our advanced lipid delivery technologies and manufacturing in California and Ireland into a broader international network.
For our customers, that means more expertise, more capabilities and more room to grow. For us, it means more opportunities to turn your slightly impossible product brief into something rather delicious.
We’re still obsessing over stability, absorption, flavour and the details that make a finished supplement work. We now have a bigger family to help us do it.
NAD+: the ingredient gets the attention. The formulation does the work.
On 8 October, we joined Seppic for our webinar, “NAD+: From Stability Challenges to a Standout Longevity Formula”.
NAD+ is attracting plenty of interest, but developing a finished product takes more than choosing a trending ingredient. Sensitivity to heat and formulation conditions creates challenges around stability and delivery.
Together, we explored how Virun’s lipid delivery expertise and Seppic’s active ingredient science can help brands approach those challenges. The concept pairs NAD+ with SEPIBLISS™, offering a complementary approach to oxidative stress and inflammation associated with age-related NAD+ decline.
Our takeaway? Think about protection, delivery and the wider formulation from the beginning. Then make something people actually enjoy taking.
We’ll share the recording link as soon as it is available.
Creatine has a water problem
Creatine is wonderfully stable as a dry powder. Once dissolved in water, it can gradually convert into creatinine. Acidity, temperature and time all influence how quickly that happens.
That becomes particularly relevant when developing a shot, gel or liquid supplement expected to spend months in storage, distribution and on a shelf.
And putting “liposomal” on the label doesn’t automatically solve it.
Virun’s water-free lipid and glycerin approach is designed to protect creatine throughout the product’s shelf life. Reduced glutathione brings its own formulation challenges, particularly around oxidation, so it also needs careful handling.
The question we encourage brands to ask is simple: how much active ingredient is still there when your customer takes it?
An impressive dose on manufacturing day is a starting point. Keeping it stable through to consumption is the clever bit.
Sea moss is earning its place
Sea moss has been getting some attention in our formulation lab, too.
We’ve been exploring its moisture-binding potential and the ways its naturally occurring polysaccharides can contribute to viscosity, suspension, texture and emulsion structure. Its minerals and trace micronutrients bring another dimension worth exploring.
Of course, formulation science is rarely as simple as swapping one ingredient for another. The source, concentration, pH, water activity and wider blend all influence how it behaves.
The useful bit is finding where those properties make a meaningful difference to the finished product.
If an ingredient is going into the formulation, we’d quite like it to earn its keep.
Lactoferrin: more than a supporting ingredient
We’re combining Effera® lactoferrin with NAD+ and reduced glutathione in lipid delivery systems designed to support their stability and absorption.
This approach considers how the ingredients work together, how sensitive compounds are protected and how they’re delivered in the finished formulation.
Our O3Omega® Lemon Meringue Cell Support formulation brings that thinking together with creatine in a creamy, convenient format.
Because an ambitious formula should still be something people look forward to taking.
A little award-winning proof of deliciousness
Our formulations for O3Omega’s Brain Food and Skin, Hair & Nails blends each won a two-star Nourish Award this year.
Brain Food features Fermentalg’s Better Origins® algal omega-3 DHA, brought together with MCT oil in a creamy, delicious lipid emulsion. Skin, Hair & Nails includes Seppic’s Ceramosides®.
These Virun-made blends bring together ingredient science, thoughtful delivery and flavours people actually enjoy.
It’s lovely to see that work recognised. Turning supplement chores into delights is rather the point.
Meet us in Las Vegas and Belgium
We’ll be at SupplySide Global in Las Vegas, 26–30 October, at booth 6129.
Come and meet us in the Virun Treehouse. Bring your troublesome ingredients, ambitious concepts and questions about stability, flavour or delivery.
We co-manufacture from formulation to finished product, with free R&D and samples at R&D scale to help get your idea moving.
And if Belgium is closer to home, we’ll also be at the Europe Nutraceutical & Functional Food Summit 2026 (ENFF 2026), 12–13 November.
To arrange dedicated time with the team at either event, get in touch at innovate.today@virun.com.
